In this exciting collaboration between Pet Supplies Plus and Nashville Display, all major stakeholders pulled together to ensure that the project objectives were clear from the outset.
- Create an unmistakable “bakery” destination
- Increase product holding by 35-55%
- Showcase pet treats – emphasis on product, not display
- High-impact display in a prominent location to encourage shopper engagement and increase impulse purchases
- Reinforce retailer’s innovative in-store policy
- Ability to rotate and introduce new lines
- Aggressive ROI expectations
Once the parameters were agreed upon, the Creative Team was able to develop a range of concepts that enabled the client to approve the preferred option. The efficient decision-making process included approval from the CEO.
The Nashville Display Creative team suggested low-voltage LED lighting to illuminate the product and highlight the exciting range of pet treats available. Clear product and price information is available along the shelf edge to help with purchase selection. Simple graphics are added to enable fun graphic messaging that no pet owner could resist!
Following an expedited prototype testing process to iron out any final modifications, test stores were installed to establish the estimated rate of sale and to help finalize the optimal supply chain process before initial roll-out planning. The first production run was completed at Nashville’s China factory, assembled and kitted at their domestic facility then shipped directly to the store for simple installation.
Following impressive sales results at the initial test locations, the number of stores opting in was significantly higher than originally anticipated, with approximately 77% of the estate signing up for the Bakery Display Program.
“This program had great momentum from the outset due to the fun nature of the product range and the potential for sales growth in such a high-margin category. Our decision to proceed with the higher specification design concept was completely justified by the results.”, commented a senior stakeholder on the client’s merchandising team. “Working with the Nashville Display team is like an extension to our in-house family. They are creative, responsive, and supportive and always manage our time challenges. We are working on the next fun in-store innovation due to hit stores later this year.”
The display exceeds ROI expectations by almost 50% and is now installed across 88% of the Pet Supplies Plus estate, with larger stores having illuminated cabinets in two or three locations.
